Lutyens BarThe wine bar and bistro occupies a prime ground floor space bathed in natural light. It overlooks both the former Daily Express building (now Goldman Sachs) on Fleet Street, and the gardens of the neighbouring church (designed by Sir Christopher Wren) on St Bride's Avenue. During the summer months, the seating options are bolstered by a small outside terrace. There are over forty different wines available by the glass, many of which are sold in a choice of four different wine measures, all thanks to a new wine preservation system. The wines are split into two main categories: 'Young & Exciting' and 'Fine & Rare'. The former is all about inexpensive wines, new-styles and highly expressive wines, often from emerging winemakers or wine regions not typically associated with a specific varietal. The 'Fine & Rare' category aims to offer the discerning drinker a glass of, for example, Chassagne-Montrachet or Barolo, without the need to buy the full bottle. London is blessed with a flourish of new wine bars, most of which are heavily focused on Natural Wines. Whilst Lutyens wine bar list includes a few Vins Naturels, it does, unlike some other new additions, also offer renowned names and wines from great estates, available by the glass or pichet de vins. The wine bar is run by the Lutyens sommelier team and is a hive of vinous activity - from the daily-changing range of 'wine flights' (each with a different theme) to free tutored tastings every Friday from 5.30pm-6.30pm. For the cost-conscious or those looking for a bargain, there is always a very attractively priced wine under the heading 'Today's Best Deal'. Additionally, all wines are available for off sales via the wine shop, with 25% off the list price. Wine Food - The food menu includes an extensive range of charcuterie, oysters, and cheese, as well as tartines, small tasting plates, sharing dishes, and a great value plat du jour @ £12. It always includes onglet aux échalotes, frites @ £13. The wine bar is equally welcoming to those just wanting to call in for an after-work glass of something chilled and to those wanting lunch or supper. From Monday to Friday, the wine bar opens at midday and closes at 11.30pm. It serves lunch from midday to 3pm, and supper from 5pm to 10pm.
