WelcomeIntroduction - Lutyens opened in the summer of 2009 and is located in the former Reuters building - the famous ticker tape is referenced in the marble mosaic floor. In the autumn after it opened, and alongside several other accolades, it won the Square Meal magazine Best New Restaurant award. Named after the famous architect and designer of the building's façade, the new format was designed by Terence Conran, and includes several dining and drinking options, open for breakfast through to late night cocktails. There are two bars, two restaurants, an outside terrace, four private meeting and dining rooms, and a private members club. Restaurant - Quintessentially Conran in design, the restaurant is reminiscent of a dining room on board an art deco cruise liner, together with the feeling of a modern version of the much-loved classic Parisian brasserie. Seating 130, including a dining counter overlooking the kitchen, it is a light and airy space with large windows at both ends of the room. It also includes several notable architectural details such as the building's original structural steel columns. Additional features, which are now synonymous with its designer, include a large open kitchen, impressive food displays and a large cheese-conditioning cabinet. The extensive à la carte menu focuses on modern European, highly-seasonal food, with a subtle Nordic influence (courtesy of the Swedish chef). The generous menu options are complemented by one of the best wine lists in the City - as nominated by the AA Guide - and the wine service is managed by a very experienced sommelier team. Wine Bar and Bistro - While the restaurant is definitely for high-powered entertaining and special occasions, the wine bar, with its inexpensive bistro menu, is ideal for everyday visits. Perfect for a quick midweek lunch or an after-work drink and supper, it offers over 40 wines available by the glass. Cocktail Bar - Launching on Thursday 27 September, the cocktail bar includes a large bar, sofas, armchairs, cosy corners and alcoves, great music and a bar food menu, making it ideal for post-work gatherings or pre-dinner drinks. Private Rooms and Events - There are four private rooms, accommodating two to 40 people. The rooms are equally suitable for meetings, cocktail receptions, important lunch events or celebratory dinners. Additionally, the bars or part of the restaurant can also be reserved for anything from ten to 50 people. Exclusive hire of the bars and restaurants is possible at the weekends or (subject to availability) midweek. Members Club - An oasis away from the hubbub of Fleet Street, the members' club room is fully equipped with free WiFi, large screen TVs, extensive reading material and a range of business services. Club members also receive a range of benefits and discounts. Lutyens is owned by Prescott & Conran and is a sister restaurant to Boundary and Albion in Shoreditch. www.prescottandconran.com
